Hvar is known to be ‘The Queen of Croatian Dalmatian Islands’ thanks to its magnificent social scene, pine forests and astounding vegetation. Whether you want to kick up the tempo and party with locals at Hula Hula Hvar, or lounge in luxury while sipping a cocktail, there’s lots of impromptu parties and celebrations to be had.
With the oldest theatre in Europe onsite, there’s also 13th-century walls, the Renaissance-era Hvar Cathedral and a hilltop fortress (history buffs delight!). For fans of flowers and photography, be sure to take a trip inland to behold the natural beauty of lush lavender fields.

It is the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’. If you want to see glorious Gothic Architecture, Monasteries, Renaissance Fountains and palaces, you can’t beat Dubrovnik. This ancient town with Baroque scenery makes for a charming evening stroll, and delightfully different dining.
While you’re soaking up the surroundings, why not dabble in some Dubrovnik domestic wine tastings? Its first real wine bar, D’Vino was established by a half-Croatian, half-Australian in 2008. Its intimate and up-to-date surroundings offer close proximity to nearby Old Town’s Stradun – the main street. When you’re finally feeling peckish, sit at a sea-view table at Penatur terrace – Chef Mario Bunda recommends the cream of scampi soup with black truffles.
